If celebrating Christmas Day on the 25th and in some homes also the 24th at night (Nit de Nadal) wasn’t enough, we still have December 26th 🙂

In Catalonia, we celebrate Sant Esteve (literally Saint Stephen) on the 26th of December.
People gathered on December 25th and as Christmas Day lunch was until it got dark outside, families used to spend the night there instead of returning home (before families lived far and there weren’t the infrastructures we have nowadays), so on the 26th they also had lunch together. Today, what many do is gather with some family on the 25th and with another part of the family on the 26th.
It’s also a public holiday and the main food for lunch on this day is cannelloni, it was a tradition to make them with the leftovers of Christmas Day.
